Title:
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF HIGH TENACITY FIBERS. PART III. DETERMINATION OF IMPORTANT PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF FIBERS FOR BALLISTIC ARMOUR
Corporate Author:
UNITED STATES RUBBER CO WAYNE NJ RESEARCH CENTER
Report Date:
1962-10-16
Abstract:
The purpose of this project is to search for the physical properties of a fiber which are important in determining its ability to resist penetration by a metallic fragment when woven into ballistic armour. Presumably if these properties were known, fibers could be tailored to give maximum resistance. The fibers to be investigated are nylon, dacron, glass fibers, rayon, orlon, kuralon, polypropylene and polyethylene.
