Title:
FIREBALL PHENOMENOLOGY
Corporate Author:
RAND CORP SANTA MONICA CA
Report Date:
1964-10-01
Abstract:
The paper deals with some of the properties of nuclear explosions which influence the predictions and scalings for fireball phenomena, notably fireball sizes, temperatures, densities, and ultimately the thermal radiation output. Attention is focused on the initial features of fireball formation for which is examined the scaling with both yield and altitude of burst. For the present, these scalings are derived from a few theoretical calculations which describe fireball features for several yields and altitudes.
