Abstract:

This report contains a description of the work accomplished in connection with the design of two types of satellite tracking antennas, a fixed antenna with hemi spherical coverage and left circular polarization, and a preset fan beam array with left circular polarization. The work done included a study of some of the various parameters affecting the shape of the pattern of a turnstile above a ground plane, the polarization of a turnstile above a ground plane and the impedance of a turnstile antenna. In addition, three prototype antennas were designed and built two single frequency fixed antennas and one dual frequency preset fan beam array. The Appendix describes the method used to establish the location of the electrical phase center. Author
