Abstract:

The average energy of electrons in a gas in an arbitrary electric field is determined from the time dependent Boltzman transport equation. The assumptions are collision frequencies are dependent of energy and there are only elastic collisions. The solution is obtained for the case of a sinusoidally varying field and contrasted with a solution obtained on a more elementary level. Author
