Title:
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ON ADVANCED GRAPHITE MATERIALS. SUPPLEMENT TO VOLUME VII. HIGH-DENSITY RECRYSTALLIZED GRAPHITE BY HOT FORMING.
Corporate Author:
NATIONAL CARBON CO LAWRENCEBURG TENN
Report Date:
1964-08-01
Abstract:
This report describes the development and fabrication techniques utilized in the scale-up of grades ZTE and ZTF graphite to 30-inch diameter sizes. Grades ZTE and ZTF graphite which are normally characterized by a bulk density range of 1.92 to 1.97 gcc and 1.97 to 2.02 gcc, respectively, are manufactured by hot working grade RVA graphite which is characterized by a bulk density of 1.84 gcc under pressures as high as 3500 lbs.sq. in. and temperatures up to 3000C. The physical properties of a 30-inch diameter ZTE graphite billet are tabulated along with the properties of RVA graphite. Author
