Title:
APPLICATION OF THE METHOD OF CONSECUTIVE APPROXIMATIONS IN THE DESIGN OF RIBBED SHELLS,
Corporate Author:

Report Date:

Abstract:
This article describes a method which permits improving the solution for a structurally orthotropic shell by means of consecutive approximations taking into account local stresses in the facing together with an evaluation of the error in determining the basic stresses in the original scheme of the anisotropic shell. The entire discussion is directed toward a circular cylindrical shell reinforced along the lines of major curvature but in principal may be extented to shells of more complex form, e.g. to cylindrical shells reinforced along lines of major curvature or to shells having the shape of surfaces of revolution.
