Title:
AN APPLICATION OF DYNAMIC PROGRAMMING TO THE DETERMINATION OF OPTIMAL SATELLITE TRAJECTORIES
Corporate Author:
RAND CORP SANTA MONICA CA
Report Date:
1958-08-19
Abstract:
Consideration is given to a simplified satellite trajectory problem, corresponding to a flat earth assumption, first treated by Okhotsimskii and Eneev. A numerical solution is presented based upon the functional equation technique of dynamic programming. A proof of the fundamental result in the analytic solution is given. The same computational approach can be applied to more realistic trajectory problems.
