Abstract:
The 3-in.70 Caliber Mount Mark 28 Mod. 0 is a pilot model of the Mark 37 prototype. The objects of the special tests are as follows 1 to determine the causes for dropping rounds from the breech when ramming at high angles of elevation and ramming speeds at several angles of elevation, 2 to determine the gas concentration in the enclosed mount following a 20 round burst without mount ventilation, and 3 to test the Mark 37 mount recoil counter-recoil system on the Mark 28 mount.
