Abstract:
The tests reported herein were conducted for the following purposes 1 to fire the subject barrel to end of life 2 to obtain information relative to the wear gun life characteristics of this type barrel under rapid- fire conditions 3 to obtain information relative to the cooling characteristics of this type barrel under rapid-fire conditions 4 to obtain information relative to cook-off temperatures following rapid-fire bursts and 5 to determine the effects of using ceresin wax or petrolatum grease as a coating on cartridge cases to facilitate case extraction and ejection.
