Abstract:

Video processors employing multiple range-gated filter channels have greatly increased the information rate of MTI combat surveillance radars. A video processor, MINIVIP, employs 500 range channels. This equipment is adaptable to most combat surveillance radars. Subclutter visibilities are in excess of 40 db. An investigation which followed evaluation of the MINIVIP indicated that the size and weight could be reduced by employing simpler, more effective filters. A video processor is incorporated in the display kit of short-range combat surveillance Radar Set ANPPS-5. This equipment employs 50 range channels. A visual display kit containing 50 range channels and a B-type display is being built for long-range combat surveillance Radar Set ANTPS-25. An improved-version video processor called an Automatic Detection and Display Equipment for MTI ADDEM is being built. Each of ten range channels contains ten band-pass filters, which cover the audio spectrum. Moving target information is presented on B-type and Doppler displays.
