Title:
DYNAMIC PERFORMANCE OF A MARK 7 MOD 1 ARRESTING GEAR WITH HEAVY DEADLOADS.
Corporate Author:
NAVAL AIR TEST FACILITY LAKEHURST NJ SHIP INSTALLATIONS
Report Date:
1966-08-24
Abstract:
Mark 7 Mod 1 arresting-gear dynamic performance data were recorded during 25 arrestments of 80,000-, 95,000-, and 110,000-pound deadloads. The engaging-speed limits are 90, 75, and 70 knots respectively for these deadloads. Maximum ram stroke of 123 inches and maximum deck-cable tension of 110,000 pounds are the limiting parameters. The existing constant runout control valvecam should be modified to improve the engine-cylinder pressure versus ram stroke relationship. The engaging speed limits for the 95,000- and 110,000-pound deadloads could be increased approximately 7 knots with proper valvecam modification.
