Abstract:
The Castable Carbonaceous Materials Programs prime objective is to characterize and demonstrate low cost, low pressure fabricated ablative insulations which are capable of being used in large solid rocket motor nozzles. The effort required to achieve this objective is illustrated by the block diagram. Efforts expended to date have been primarily directed toward optimizing the cure conditions of two families of carbonaceous materials, and the design and fabrication of three of the six subscale nozzles. All nozzles fabricated for demonstration will be static tested at Edwards AFB on AFRPL char motors. Author
