Abstract:
This second interim report covers the work performed and the test data obtained from compounds reported in the first interim report 1 June to 30 November 1965 for Phases 1, 3, and 4 in the screening and evaluation of low temperature fuel resistant elastomers, under the following four phases Phase 1 - screening and evaluation of various elastomers to determine resistance to aromatic fuels and serviceability at temperatures to -65 F Phase 2 - compounding studies of elastomers selected from Phase 1 work, studies directed toward improvement of low temperature and fuel resistance properties Phase 3 - evaluation of a compound developed by ERDL to determine conformance with requirements of MIL-G-1086C Phase 4 - evaluation of resistance of low, medium and high acrylonitrile rubber to fuels containing increasing amounts of aromatic hydrocarbons.
