Abstract:
Signal amplitudes, noise levels rms, and signal-to-noise ratios were computed from LASA recordings 1325 seismograms of three teleseismic events in addition, unphased and phased subarray summations were formed. The results of this study indicate that signal amplitudes with in a subarray vary by a factor of three or four and tat there is an equivalent variation is subarray mean amplitudes across the entire LASA. Noise levels, on the other hand, are fairly uniform across LASA for a given event. Phased signal amplitudes within a subarray are about 2 db better than their corresponding unphased sums, but they are slightly smaller than the mean signal amplitudes. Both phased and unphased noise leveles within a subarray are approximately 6db lower than the subarray mean. Author
