Abstract:
The syntheses of 4,4-oxydiN-nitrosophenyl glycine and perfluoroglutaryl phenylhydrazide chloride, intermediates in the synthesis of a sydnone dipole and a nitrilimine dipole, respectively, were accomplished. A model compound, 1,1,3,3-tetraphenyl-5,5-m-phenylene-di-delta-pyrazoline from the reaction of benzoylphenylhydrazide chloride and m-divinylbenzene in the presence of triethylamine was prepared. The polymerization reaction of p-phenylene-3,3-disydnone with p-benzoquinone afforded poly2,4,6,8-tetrahydro-4,8-dioxo-2,6-p-phenylenepyrazolo 3,4-findazole which had good thermal stability and an inherent viscosity of 0.6. The polymerization reaction of terephthaloyl phenylhydrazide chloride with m-divinylbenzene gave poly1,1-diphenyl-3,3-p-phenylene-5,5-m-phenylenedi-delta--pyrazoline. Cross-linking reactions in these polymers containing pyrazole units in the chain can apparently be carried out by heating the polymers at 275 C under reduced pressure. Author
