Title:
HELIX - PLASMA COUPLING

Abstract:
As efforts continue to effectively utilize the microwave frequencies a need is apparent for a traveling wave type device capable of handling greater power at higher frequencies. One possible solution is the plasma microwave amplifier tube. An analysis is given of the plasma-helix coupling problem which may hopefully lead to development of such a device whereby the RF energy is coupled directly to the plasma with a helix, rather than coupling to an electron beam as has been the case heretofore. A theoretical analysis is presented, and the computer solution to the analytical equations evolved.
