Abstract:

Structured-Objective Rorschach Test SORT scores of 218 United States Naval Postgraduate School students were subjected to a multiple regression analysis to determine if there is an effect of service tenure upon personality characteristics. The results obtained indicate that SORT scores, which are a measure of personality characteristics, are probably random in respect to service tenure and age. The study includes a review of the history of group Rorschach methods, civilian and military, and evaluates the possible future use of the SORT in the Navy. It concluded that the value of the SORT for military group comparisons is undertermined, and that further use of the test at the Naval Postgraduate School is necessary in order that its value definitely may be established.
