Title:
TRAJECTORY CONSIDERATIONS OF AN AIRCRAFT TORPEDO WITH A GLIDING PARACHUTE.
Corporate Author:
MINNESOTA UNIV MINNEAPOLIS DEPT OF AERONAUTICS AND ENGINEERING MECHANICS
Report Date:
1965-09-01
Abstract:
In order to achieve consistent torpedo impact conditions for a wide range of release conditions, utilization of a gliding parachute for stabilization and lift has been suggested. Trajectory calculations show that this objective can be achieved within certain limits. Wind tunnel experiments indicated that a parachute-torpedo combination can be stablized within the range of the required angle of attack. Roll and yaw stabilization of the parachute torpedo system has not been investigated. Author
