Abstract:
Quartz capillary lamps of 3.5 x 10 mm diameter and 2.4 x 8 mm diameter with NaI or TiI as additives to Hg have been made with varying quantities of the additive and Hg. Measurements of electrical and spectral characteristics have been made with arc tubes operating without outer envelopes. High resolution spectra have been taken of the CsI, GaI, InI and NaI additive lamps. A comparison of the spectral match of the NaI lamp with the Nd3 absorption bands in YAG is made. Author
