Abstract:
The magnetic susceptibilities of single crystal MnHCOO2 x 2H2O and of the powdered FeHCOO2 x 2H2O were measured. Conclusions resulting from this work include 1 the temperature dependence of the susceptibility can be well described by a molecular field approximation of the four sublattice model with antiferromagnetic exchange interaction 2 the appearance of a small and sharp peak in the susceptibility should originate in the MoriyaDzialoshinsky interaction 3 the small anisotropy in the susceptibilities of manganese formate agrees reasonably well with the results of paramagnetic resonance observations in which the orthorhombic crystalline field parameters were estimated.
