Report Date:

Abstract:
Flight test 84 of the AQM-37A target was the nineteenh flight test conducted for contractor demonstration and the first flight test conducted utilizing a supersonic target launch. The target was telemetry configured and was flown with a planned cruise altitude and speed of 85,000 feet and 3.0 Mach, respectively. A 28-second duation timer was installed in the booster cut-off circuit in order to attain the required booster cut off speed of 3.5 Mach. The altitude transducer was replaced with a transducer having the increased sensitivity required for an 85,000-foot flight environment. The flight control system gains were similar to those which are used in standard production targets except for the delta H and pitch gains which were increased from 0.00005 to 0.000064 and 0.5 to 0.6, respectively.
