Abstract:
The damping of capillary waves wavelength less than 1.0 cm by insoluble organic monolayers was examined in detail at low film pressure. The experimental system was designed to 1 generate either circular or plane waves at various frequencies and amplitudes, 2 measure the wave amplitudes, and 3 provide for the addition and removal of insoluble monolayers and the measurement and control of monolayer film pressure. Force vs area curves were also determined for all pure compounds studied and these data were compared with the wave-damping results. Author
