Abstract:

Research concerns the design of a 5-watt plate dissipation nuvistor triode intended for use as a grid pulsed or cw power amplifier, oscillator, or frequency multiplier for frequencies up to 1.2 Gc. The heater will draw about 0.350 amp. at 6.3 volts. The uncoated cathode diameter will be 0.125 in. The grid will have 62 siderods of 0.001 in. diameter molybdenum wire and will have an ID of 0.134 in. The design mu is forty. The anode is incorporated into an efficient thermal circuit for conducting heat from the anode through the top cap to an external heat sink. A 1000 Mc coaxial amplifier is being designed for initial evaluation of the tubes in grid pulse and class C amplifier service. Author
