Abstract:
A study is being made of fundamental sensitivity properties of difluoroamino compounds in the following situations 1 the low velocity reaction wave and shock sensitivity characteristics of the liquid phase 2 the relation of shock sensitivity and failure diameter to the flow and the chemical reaction rate behind the shock front and 3 the mechanism and kinetics of decomposition of the compounds in solution and in the gas phase. These interrelated situations were chosen for their susceptibility to analysis in terms of basic physical and chemical parameters. Each study is being carried out on 1,2-bis difluoroamino propane 1,2-DP, 2,2-bis difluoroamino propane 2,2-DP, 1,3-bis difluoroamino propane 1,3-DP, 2-methyl-2,3-bisdifluoroamino- propane IBA, and 2,3-bis difluoroamino butane, 2,3-DB, in order to assess the importance of structural variation. Thermal decomposition studies have also included 1,1-bis difluoroamino propane 1,1-DP.
