Title:
AEROELASTIC EFFECTS ON ROLLING CHARACTERISTICS OF Z(THE X-7B AND XQ-5)ZMISSILES.
Corporate Author:

Report Date:

Abstract:
The effects of aeroelasticity on rolling characteristics of the X-7BXQ-5 missiles have been analyzed, and the results are summarized in this report. Torsional flexibility of the wing increases the roll damping and decreases the aileron effectiveness. Both effects increase the time to roll through any given angle in response to an aileron step input. The transient twist distributions due to thermal gradients in the wing structure, and their contribution to rolling effectiveness will be considered in a subsequent analysis. Author
