Abstract:
The thermal decomposition of four polynitroaromatic amines alone and in trinitrobenzene solutions was monitored by two methods 1 thin layer chromatographic, TLC, analysis, and 2 pressure increase due to gas evolution. The stability as measured by the TLC method of analysis was found to decrease in the following order picramide 1,3-diamino-2,4,6- trinitrobenzene 3-amino-2,2,4,4, 6,6-hexanitrobiphenyl 3,3-diamino- 2,2,4, 4, 6,6- hexanitro-biphenyl. In contrast, gas evolution was found not to be a reliable index of stability. Author
