Title:
SOME IMPLICATIONS OF ASYMMETRY IN BALLISTIC MISSILE RE-ENTRY HEADS
Corporate Author:
ROYAL AIRCRAFT ESTABLISHMENT FARNBOROUGH (UNITED KINGDOM)
Report Date:
1961-11-01
Abstract:
Asymmetry in a missile is classified under two headings a aerodynamic and b inertial. Two issues are considered 1 the problem of spin stabilization in free space for which b is relevant, and 2 the interplay with increasing aerodynamic forces during the descent for which a and b are both relevant. A full treatment of 2 is elusive mathematically and only a simplified version is attempted.
