Abstract:
A summary of available basic intelligence on the physical characteristics of the port of Istanbul, its harbor, resources, administration, capacity, and clearance is presented. Construction data needed for planning the repair, improvement, reconstruction or rehabilitation of the port are given, as is information concerning natural factors influencing construction, maintenance and operations. The vulnerability of the port to nuclear attack, the locations and capabilities of alternate ports, and potential expansion for emergency use are discussed.
