A gas cell phase shifter has been constructed and evaluated in a Twyman-Green interferometer, with both a low pressure mercury lamp 5461 Angstroms and a helium-neon laser 6328 Angstroms as sources. Measurements of phase shift by fringe displacement correspond well with expected results. Author
