Title:
DEVELOPMENT OF IMPROVED HIGH-STRENGTH PREIMPREGNATED MATERIALS FOR FILAMENT-WOUND ROCKET MOTOR CASES
Corporate Author:
AEROJET-GENERAL CORP AZUSA CALIF
Report Date:
1962-01-26
Abstract:
Lots 1 t rough 5 of experimental roving were received all except Lots 4 and 5 were coated with E-787 resin. The strand tensile strength for all except Lot 2 was 340,000 psi or over. The highe t hoop filament stress obtained occurred during this report period. An 18-in. chamber f bricated fro Lo pre-pr g f il t a gl ss stress of 333,300 psi. Due to the gains made in catenary, fuzz content, and damage protection with the improved Lot 1 package it was decided t at these proper ies whic wer to be studied in Lo s 6, 7, and 8 could not be improved further at this time substitute para eters were requested for th se lots T ONLY SUBSTITUTION M D IS FOR A LOT WITH SMALLER DIAMETER FIBERS CONSISTING OF APPROXIMATELY FILAMENTS PER END INSTEAD OF THE USUAL FILAMENTS. A st tistical analysis, using an Aerojet IBM 7090 comput r was i i iated to evaluate 8 process variabl s. Author
