Report Date:

Abstract:
A breadboard model of a photoelectrically operated device which quickly determines the coordinates of any point on a map wa developed. Its essential components are a manually positioned light source and two servo-controlled lightsensitiv follo er units, one for each axis. The follower units automatically position themselves in accordance with the coordinates of the light source and generate an log voltag s corresponding to these coordina . These voltages may be used to actuate a digital device to give a direct readout of the coordinates of the light source, or if the operator traces a lin or curve with the light source, the path thus traced may be reproduced at a remote location on an X-Y plotter whose inputs ar connected to the coordinate outputs of the follower units.
