Abstract:
A SURVEY OF WORK PUBLISHED IN THE USSR on the problem of dynamic stability of elastic systems uring the period 1924-1951 is presented. The paper is divided into three sections 1 anANALYSIS OF EARLY INVESTIGATIONS, 2 an account of certain general theorems, and 3 a discussion of recent work up to 1951. The problem of dyn mic stability is directed to studies of the motions of elastic systems subjected to time-dependent external loads. Th g neralizatio of the E UL R PROBLEM TO THE CASE OF TIME-DEP NDENT FORCES IS THE CLASSICAL PROTOTYPE OF THESE PROBLEMS. The time-depend nt external forces are applied in such a way that the corresponding time-independent loads, equivalent in direction and point of application, re able to induce loss of stability.
