Abstract:
Methods were developed which are applicable to the problem of manipulating visual data available toa sllite so as to enhance the detection of a given target. Study was oriented toward the detection of a missile in the powered phase. Considering the intensity disution on an optical image plane as the input, four different types of spatial filters are developed. The statistical description of the background, which must be known prior to applying th theory, varies from the autocorrelation function for a linear filter to a complete statistical description for the general statistical and decision theory filters.
