Abstract:
A method is developed for determining the thermal boundary layer of a rotating sphere in an incompressible fluid having uniform flow. The method follows an idea due to N. Frossling, in which the temperature distribution is expressed as a power series expansion. Use is made of results previously obtained by N. E. Hoskin for the velocity distribution in the laminar boundary layer of a rotating sphere. Numerical results, obtained with an IBM 704 computer, are included. Author
