Abstract:
Dislocation densities and configurations in plastically deformed silver and silver-magnesium oxide alloys were studied using x-ray line broadening measurements, correlated with other experimental techniques. The cold worked structure of the silver-magnesium oxide alloys was found to contain a large number of dislocationsARRANGED TO PRODUCE SUBGRAINS CONSIDERABLY SMALLER THAN THE MEAN FREE PATH BETWEEN OXIDE PARTICLES. This substructure is formed very rapidly in the early stages of deformation, and is accompanied by very little preferred orientation. Author
