Abstract:
The special roller leveler was started up, and forty-nine sheets were processed to gain familiarity with the machine and to develop settings. A test of the effect of leveling on the mechanical properties of solution treated Ti-6Al-4V and Ti-4Al-3Mo-1V alloys showed virtually no change in tensile properties. The minimum bend radius, however was increased. The ageing response was also changed. No evidences of change in directionality were noted. The flatness which can be achieved by roller leveling is a function of the type and degree of out-of-flatness. Good results can be obtained in removing dimples, dinges, short waves, and coil sets. T e long waves characteristic of the solution treated material, however, are more difficult and currently an out-offlatness of about 2 can be achieved. Author
