Title:
SOME PRINCIPLES OF LOW-NOISE ANTENNA DESIGN: VOLUME 1
Corporate Author:
OHIO STATE UNIV RESEARCH FOUNDATION COLUMBUS ANTENNA LAB
Report Date:
1960-12-01
Abstract:
The principal sources of antenna noise are discussed together with their effects on antenna performance and methods of reducing these effects. The c ncept of antenna gain-temperature ratio is in roduced and a mat ematical method of handling it as a single design parameter evolved. Some limitations of very large continuous apertures are considered and a multielement system proposed as a means of increasing the useful size of large antennas. Some experiments to determine the feasibility of such a system and the optimum size of its elements are described.
