Title:
HIGH POWER CAPABILITIES OF WAVEGUIDE SYSTEMS
Corporate Author:

Report Date:
1961-06-12
Abstract:
Research is concerne with the various effects in waveguide systems which lead to failures at ultra-high power levels where high averages as well as high peak power become limiting factors. Ultimately a handbook will be prepared to serve as a guide for systems engineers. Subjects discussed include 1 breakdown in non-uniform fields which result from waveguide discontinuities and the nature of the propagating modes, 2 properties of gases other than air, and 3 heating of the waveguide and resulting deleterious effects. Some preliminary experiments on breakdown and high average power effects are presented. Author
