Title:
CONDUCTANCE AND RELAXATION TIME OF ELECTRONS IN GOLD BLACKS FROM TRANSMISSION AND REFLECTION MEASUREMENTS IN THE FAR INFRARED
Corporate Author:
MASSACHUSETTS INST OF TECH CAMBRIDGE
Report Date:
1953-09-30
Abstract:
The electrical conductivity of gold blacks was evaluated from reflection and transmission measurements in the far IR. A closed expression relating the electrical conductivity of the gold black direction to the absorption and transmission coefficients was derived for sufficiently thin samples and large wave lengths. The electrical conductivity varied with wave length this variation was atributed to a relaxation effect for wave lengths larger than 105 microns. This relaxation time of electrons in gold blacks was in accord with that in bulk gold.
