Abstract:
Technical examination of 1 loaded and fuzed complete round of Soviet 85-mm APHE-T ammunition included photographs, dimensioned sketches, and a complete round drawing as well as chemical analysis of the explosives and metallurgical examination of the projectile and cartidge case. The complete round consists of a base-fuzed, uncapped, armor-piercing projectile and tracer, assembled in a primed brass cartridge case. The cartridge case contains a coil of soft lead wire, 2 closing cups, a cylindircal spacer, and a propellant powder charge packed loosely in a bag. A black powder igniter charge is contained in a separate plastic pad in the cartridge case at the base of the propellant charge bag.
