Supercavitating 3-D Hydrofoils and Propellers: Prediction of Performance and Design

Recent numerical techniques for the prediction of cavitating flows, in linear and nonlinear theories, are applied on super-cavitating 2-D, 3-D hydrofoils and propellers. Some of these techniques, when incorporated within a non-linear optimization algorithm, can lead to efficient supercavitating hydrofoil or propeller designs. This lecture will address 3-D supercavitating hydrofoils, supercavitating and surface-piercing propellers.
