Abstract:

This paper presents an optimisation procedure for the automatic design of frequency selective surfaces. The optimisation tool is based on the genetic algorithm, and embeds an analysis method we recently developed. The implementation of the optimisation code and its application are described, and the major advantages of the method are discussed. An example is also reported, where the code is applied to the optimisation of frequency selective surfaces with circular holes.
