Abstract:
Aerodynamic losses incurred in gas turbine ducting are often substantial, contributing in a significant way to the overall compression or power loss. A finite element Navier-Stokes compressible turbulent code, NS3D, has been under development between Pratt and Whitney Canada and Concordia University to help in the understanding of the flow field in such ducts and diffusers, in order to control the loss mechanisms.
