Abstract:
This paper discusses programming principles and practices required to construct a cross-tabulation program, a subset of a statistics package substantial enough to illustrate these principles, without involving numerical analysis problems. This is a preface to our construction of a simple but powerful tabulation program via extracts from the code in our own packages.
