Abstract:

In measurement of dissolved oxygen DO stratifications in lakes and other water areas, the lowest point is chosen usually at a depth of 0.5 m above the sediment surface. DO concentrations in the overlying water just above the sediment are rarely measured. Therefore, the DO behavior in the sediment-water interface is not well known. In order to investigate DO behavior, column tests on DO were performed by use of special test apparatus. This paper deals with these test results and discusses the boundary conditions of sediment-water interface on DO behavior.
