The Catalysis of Burn Rate of Energetic Binder Propellants was discussed in a one-day workshop conducted in conjunction with the 20th JANNAF Combustion Meeting held in Monterey, CA in October 1983. The purpose of the workshop was to provide a framework for the discussion of techniques for modifying the ballistic behavior of energetic binder propellants. This topic was selected because useful approaches for obtaining high rate, minimum smoke propellants remain elusive, and attempts to obtain high rate by modifying the nitramine have not been very successful. At a previous workshop on Nitramine Combustion sponsored by AFRPL in 1982, it was recommended that catalysis of the binder be re-examined as a possible approach for burning rate modification, and the subject workshop was a product of that recommendations.
