Terrorism: The Challenge to the Private Sector,
MOBIL CORP NEW YORK

In the private sector, security is a line management responsibility, particularly where goals and objectives, information protection, and protection of key assets are concerned. Each company in the corporate world has a different personality. The goals are pretty much the same, but once you get below that initial goal, then you go to beliefs. Some companies are very macho. Some companies wont let a security man interview a suspect, some companies will. Companies are very hesitant to go th extremes. Companies are both image conscious and fundamentally ethical. They truly do believe in people and employees, much to the chagrin of those who would unfairly accuse them of not being ethical, above-board, and cognizant of peoples rights. How you weave your program into the management system differs according to the company, and not only that, but according to its profitability, which also has some bearing on how quickly you move your program. Im in a company now that has a completely different need than my prior employer. Despite recent bombings, my former employers problem is still fundamentally information protection. It has major problems if its technology is lost.
