Abstract:
The two-dimensional Electronic Equipment Maintenance Trainer 2D EEMT was designed and developed by the Navy as a generic trainer intended to overcome many of the problems associated with using operational equipment for training electronics technicians. The findings of the Training Capabilities Test TCT indicated that the 2D EEMT, when used in conjunction with operational equipment trainers, resulted in troubleshooting performance equivalent to that achieved when only operational trainers were used. Thus, the 2D EEMT can reduce reliance on operational equipment and increase the opportunity for individual student troubleshooting practice when used as a supplement to existing laboratory equipment. The 2D EEMT was found to be suitable for use in the Electronic Technician A School environment, and its generic nature makes it adaptable to other training environments with only changes in lessonware and the picture data base.
