Four types of andean cryogenic features are compared based on ground experiences, aereal photographs and satellite imagery uncovered glaciers debris-covered glaciers rock glaciers a soligelifluction contact. Satellite imagery can have very useful in insolated areas for warning on glaciological accidents, because the uncovered ice shows very clearly when located on a dark background of water, vegetation or rocks. The other three features are not clearly distinguished in satellite imagery without ground experience. Fortunatelly, they are not related to cryogenic accidents.
