Abstract:

It is widely acknowledged that the technological advances of the present are going to have a major impact on the design and operation of future weapons systems. Future systems will continue to depend on the performance of the operator or the maintenance person assigned responsibility for the system. Addressing this multifaceted problem calls for a focus on the attitudes of the people involved with respect to increasing complexity. It is clear that these attitudes can impact many elements of the system, from personnel manning to performance levels. The investigation of this area prompted the application of the Job Difficulty data obtained by the U.S.A.F. Occupational Measurement Center USAFOMC in a way which had not been used before. Author
